MACBETH, by William Shakespeare
Adapted by The Genesius Project
Directed by Richard J. Piatt, O.S.A.
What happens in a digital age where kings, king-makers, and the population itself suffer from an increasing paranoia about enemies, both foreign and homegrown? Shakespeare’s classic drama about unbridled ambition and political machinations receives a fresh treatment by The Genesius Project. Presented in the original language and featuring a cast of students, alumni, and associate actors for Merrimack Theatre, this “Macbeth” is a dark look at the psychology of ambition and madness.

Dead Man’s Cell Phone A Drop Dead Funny Comedy by Sarah Ruhl
Directed by Kathleen Sills
A comedy in which a cell phone is guaranteed to ring during the performance? That’s just one of the delights of Sarah Ruhl’s “Dead Man’s Cell Phone.” Ruhl, a fresh and highly regarded American playwright, presents us with a quirky, thoughtful comedy tinged with magical realism.
When the man at the next table refuse to answer his cell phone, Jean discovers he is dead. Taking the phone, she becomes his self-appointed secretary and sets out to heal the rifts in his family-but on the way, finds that the real transformation may be within herself. “Dead Man’s Cell Phone” explores human identity and how we connect in the digital age.

Gruesome Playground Injuries a comedy by Rajiv Joseph
Directed by Kathleen Sills
From the author of “Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo,” “Gruesome Playground Injuries” explores the cost of wounded friendships. Over the course of 30 years, the lives of Doug and Kayleen intersect at the most bizarre intervals, leading the two childhood friends to compare scars and the physical calamities that keep drawing them together. But what responsibility do we bear towards others, and how far can one person go to heal another’s wounds? “Layered with quirky humor and poignant intensity,” writes Gwendolyn Purdom of the “Washingtonian,” this play is a crash course in growing up, getting hurt, and the healing power of love.
