The Last Lecture with Dr. Marcia Walsh
7:30pm EST November 20, 2013
The Merrimack Honors Program is sponsoring “The Last Lecture” by the winner of the 2013 Edward G. Roddy, Jr. Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award.
The Last Lecture is delivered as if it were the very last opportunity a professor has to speak before students and colleagues on any subject. The effect of this fiction is a presentation in which the lecturer shares what is of the greatest importance and value in her/his professional life. It also reveals passion about and commitment to her/his vocation as an educator.
Dr. Walsh received her Bachelors of Science in Biology from Stonehill College and her Ph.D. in Biological Science from University of Rhode Island. She was a post-doctoral fellow at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute where she did research on the mitochondria of normal and cancer cells. Her primary research pertains surveillance of antibiotic resistant bacteria in our environment, and analysis of water quality in the Merrimack River. She has been with Merrimack College since 1980. Dr. Walsh is also an avid swimmer. Click here for more information about Dr. Walsh.
