New Appointments in the Office of Academic Affairs
“As the new semester gets underway, I encourage you to look back with pride on all that we have accomplished during the past two and a half years,” said Modica-Napolitano. “As Provost, I am keenly aware of the necessity to support and assist academic leaders as they implement strategies to achieve our long-term goals. At this critical time in the College’s transition, the following appointments in the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs will help ensure our success.”
Modica-Napolitano announced that Dr. Russell Mayer and Dr. Cynthia McGowan will now serve as Vice Provosts for the College. Both will be joining Dr. Pat Sendall, who has served the College well in this capacity for the last eighteen months and will continue to take the lead on important academic initiatives such as the comprehensive internationalization program and the development of graduate student academic policies and procedures. Russ will focus his efforts on the areas of assessment, teaching and learning, and student success, and Cindy will focus her efforts on academic policy review and development, and faculty affairs.
Additionally, Mark Gould, who serves the College as Associate Vice President for Professional, Graduate and International Enrollment, has also assumed the responsibilities of Chief of Staff to the Provost. In this role, Mark will provide administrative support to the Provost and assist in coordinating a variety of matters within the Office of the Provost, between the Provost’s Office and other units on campus. Furthermore, Michael Accardi has been appointed Special Assistant for Resource Development. Michael will support planning and program development, grants management, and fundraising for Academic Affairs.
Finally, the Provost announced Michelle Fastnacht’s appointment to Executive Assistant to the Provost/VPAA. She has joined long-serving Executive Assistant Maribeth Zatet in this role, and together will support the Provost and Vice Provosts, in support of faculty, students, and other constituencies with regard to academic policies and procedures, and in managing the day to day affairs of the office.
