The Merrimack Honors Program strives to support the course needs of students from every major in the college. We therefore offer four types of honors courses.
Types of Honors Classes
First, Merrimack Honors offers Honors sections of the three courses that every student at Merrimack must take: Introduction to Philosophy, Christianity in Context (or World Religions), and College Writing. A second group of Honors courses helps students satisfy core area requirements in the liberal arts, social sciences, math, and science. These include Honors sections in psychology, economics, business, education, environmental studies, writing and rhetoric, calculus, and physics (specific courses vary by semester). Traditionally, we offer a Honors STEM, Social Science and Business course in the Fall and a Honors Arts and Literature in the Spring. Third, students may with the approval of their professor earn honors credit in a non-Honors course by completing additional research or a special project called Honors Contract. This allows the student to get Honors credit for upper-level courses in their major.
Please note that these classes are subject to change. The most up to date classes will be on MyMack.
