Transition to Merrimack

What is the adjustment like when you arrive at Merrimack?

Adjustments are different for everyone, especially in college and especially as a transfer student. Merrimack has many support systems put in place to help all students adjust to their new lifestyle. Some of the support systems include Hamel Health and the Counseling Center, the Academic Success Center, as well as Resident and Commuter Advisors.

How can I get involved on campus?

Getting to know your peers and the orientation staff is a great start to making connections with different student organizations and clubs! The Office of Student Involvement also holds an involvement fair during the first couple weeks of the semester which is a great place to learn about what Merrimack has to offer.

What are the weekends like?

Merrimack College prides itself on not being a suitcase school. Most students stay at Merrimack through the weekends and the Office of Student Involvement runs at least one program every weekend.

Can I have a car on campus?

All commuter students are guaranteed on-campus parking. The Student Vehicle Registration Form is in MyMack > Quick Links. Resident students are welcome to complete the Student Vehicle Registration Application, however parking spaces are not guaranteed and will be prioritized based on class year, students with approved accommodations from the Accessibility Services Office and students with confirmed off-campus experiential-education placements. Freshmen and sophomore resident students, as a general rule, should not expect to have a vehicle on campus and opportunities for juniors will be limited.

When will I receive my MackCard?

All new students who participate in Orientation will receive their MackCard when they arrive on campus for Orientation.

How do I know if my credits transfer over to Merrimack and if classes count towards my major?

To know these details students can visit their degree audit located on myMack as well as set up an appointment with their Advisors to go over these details. Every student at Merrimack is given an Academic Advisor in order to help with questions like this. You can find your Advisor’s name by also looking under Student Info on myMack.
