The National Center for Science and Civic Engagement and National Science Foundation

The National Center for Science and Civic Engagement (NCSCE) develops, implements, and evaluates a diverse range of educational activities and projects.  The signature program of the Center is Science Education for New Civic Engagements and Responsibilities (SENCER), a project funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to promote greater engagement of undergraduates with the sciences in institutions of higher education in the US and selected other countries.  Our faculty received a SENCER-NSF grant funded by NCSCE to develop a curriculum that teaches science through complex public issues in health and fitness and that uses community action to support of local and global health and wellness.
