Benefits Overview
The following is a summary of benefits provided by Merrimack College for eligible employees:
Medical Insurance
The College offers eligible employees and their dependents a choice of two Harvard Pilgrim Health Care options: Harvard Pilgrim HMO Best Buy or Harvard Pilgrim PPO Best Buy. Employee contribution is based on the plan selected.
Dental Insurance
The College offers eligible employees and their dependents a choice of two Guardian dental options: DentalGuard PPO Preferred Low (Option 1) or DentalGuard PPO Preferred High (Option 2). Employee contribution is based on the plan selected.
Retirement Savings
The College offers a defined contribution plan and a tax deferred annuity plan through TIAA-CREF. Through the defined contribution plan, eligible employees contribute 2.5% of their salary and the College contributes 8.5%. The tax deferred annuity is a supplemental plan through which employees can make pre-tax salary deferrals for extra retirement savings.
Flexible Spending Accounts
The College makes available flexible spending accounts for both health care and dependent care. Under the plan, employees may set aside a portion of their salary for dependent care or non-reimbursable medical expenses on a pre-tax basis.
Life Insurance
The College provides life insurance through Guardian to full time employees equal to one and one-half times your base salary to a maximum of $150,000.00. This coverage is fully paid by the College and enrollment is made during orientation.
Long Term Disability and AD&D Insurance
The College provides long term disability and accidental death and dismemberment insurance through Guardian. The College pays the cost of this insurance plan which provides 60% of your monthly salary up to a maximum of $5,000.00 a month.
Vacation, Sick and Personal
The College offers all eligible employees generous vacation, sick and personal time.
Holidays
The College offers fifteen paid holidays.
Tuition Remission
The College offers employees, their spouses and dependent children tuition remission according to employee’s classification.
Tuition Exchange
The College offers opportunity for scholarship for dependent children at certain colleges and universities for eligible employees based on employee’s classification and seniority.
Professional Development
The College’s policy is to encourage and support professional development through seminars and training opportunities offered internally or externally.
Relocation Services
The Talbot Group provides comprehensive relocation services to new hires of Merrimack College and existing employees. Services include selling an existing home, finding a new home, the shipment of household goods, area tours, and rental assistance.
