Upon receiving a room assignment, you will be required to complete a residency agreement. All 2013-14 residency agreements will be binding for the entire academic year, and room deposits are non-refundable once the residency agreement is signed. Requests for release from the residency agreement will be subject to a petition process through the Office of Residence Life. Honored requests will result in a $500 contract termination fee being charged to your student account, as well as forfeiture of the room deposit. If you are withdrawing or are approved for a leave of absence from the College, have been accepted to student abroad or co-op programs, are graduating or subject to academic dismissal, you will be released from the residency agreement without penalty and will not be subject to the petition process.

Specialty Interest Housing Communities
(Application Deadline: March 20, 2013)
The Office of Residence is offering the following specialty interest housing options for 2013-2014. Please click on the links to learn more about the different communities and to access the community applications:
Austin Scholars and Honors Program Communities
For the first time, dedicated housing communities are available for upperclassmen who are current or past participants in Austin Scholars or the Honors Program.
The Global Living Community provides a living environment for both international and American students who are interested in learning more about other cultures through engaging activities and conversations.
The Leadership Housing Community is open to all Merrimack College students, including those who currently hold leadership positions, as well as those who are pursuing future opportunities for involvement and leadership in the campus community.
This year students have the opportunity to apply to live with a group of students of sophomore, junior or senior status linked together by the same interest. Each individual must complete an application, submit a list all other involved group members, and complete the Special Interest Community Housing Contract.
The Quiet Study Apartment option, offered at the St. Thomas Apartments has been designed for students who wish to enjoy the independence of apartment-style living and are focused on their academics, student teaching, co-op/internships and wish to live in an area that places an emphasis on the ability to sleep and study within their living environment.
The Wellness Community is comprised of students who are committed to living within a common understanding of healthy living and holistic wellness approaches. The Wellness Community brings together students with common values and beliefs in order to promote healthy lifestyles through programming and community engagement.
