Academics

With more than 90 academic programs including self-designed majors, opportunities to major, minor, and double major across disciplines, and accelerated master’s degrees, Merrimack offers you a breadth of academic options to choose from.

And if you’re interested in enriching your academic experience, Merrimack has the resources for you.

Depending on your academic background and interests, our Honors Program, Compass Program, living and learning communities, Writers House, and Markets Lab are just a few of our programs that will contribute to you achieving your academic goals.

Simply put, it’s your college experience, your way.

A Strong Foundation

Merrimack’s Core Curriculum in Liberal Studies ensures that you will enter the world (and the workforce) with the knowledge, critical thinking, and communication skills needed to succeed. Coupled with an emphasis on the social justice and community values of an Augustinian education, our curriculum is designed to help you think ethically and solve problems creatively—across all disciplines.

Supportive Faculty

Merrimack’s professors are more than just teachers. In addition to providing academic subject matter, they engage, mentor, and connect with students, both inside and outside the classroom. They are committed to helping you grow—academically, personally, and spiritually—so that you may graduate as a confident, well-prepared citizen of the world.

Knowledge Towards Wisdom

Our faculty believe that the deepest learning occurs when you are fully immersed in the experience and applying academic content to real-world problems. From traveling to Haiti to design a clean water delivery system, to staying local and re-engineering traffic flows in North Andover—you will experience the transformative process of actively applying learning as you prepare for your future success.

Small is big here. At Merrimack, small classes deliver big ideas. Our low faculty-student ratio means that you get to know your professors—experts who provide personal attention, take an interest in your studies, and help bring learning to life.
