Fellowship Programs

 

Applications for the 2013-2014 Fellowships are now being accepted.  Applications will be reviewed and acceptances emailed after the application deadline:

• Education: March 1
• Higher Education: March 1, with a priority deadline of February 15*
• Community Engagement: March 1, with a priority deadline of February 15*

* In anticipation of a large number of applications for these programs, we encourage you to apply by the priority deadline for best consideration.

Application Information

Applications for the Fellowship program are accepted online. Click on “apply now” to get started. You will be required to create an account by registering a username and password. Registering an account will allow you to start an application, save, and then log back in at any time to complete it before submission.

• Your essay(s), resume, and any additional documents may be uploaded electronically through the application portal.
• You can also enter electronic contact information for your recommenders and they will be sent an email with a link prompting them to complete your recommendation online. You can also choose to mail in hard copies of your letters of recommendation.
• Enrollment history is collected in the online application. However, an official copy of your transcript(s) must be mailed to:

About the Fellowship Programs

Our highly-selective, full-tuition fellowships enable you to teach, impact the lives of college students or make a difference in your local and global communities. Each of Merrimack’s three fellowship programs offers you outstanding opportunities for unparalleled hands-on field experiences and the chance to impact society and our world. Fellows do a clinical residency on site while taking a full graduate load of master’s courses, and earn a Master of Education degree (M.Ed.) in one year.

• Our year-long fellowships cover all tuition costs. 
• Our fellowships are open to all academic majors and backgrounds; bachelor’s degree required.
• Coursework begins late summer and ends June 2014.
• Fellows benefit from experienced mentors, college supervisors, and advisors who support their learning and strengthen their impact on students’ success.

Merrimack College offers three highly-competitive, full-tuition fellowships:

Education Fellowship – Teach PreK-12 in public and private schools.

Higher Education Fellowship – The Master’s in Higher Education (M.Ed.) prepares students to be administrative leaders in colleges and universities, working with students and in a variety of roles supporting the advancement of higher education. The curriculum focuses on learning and development of college students, college access, equity and diversity, and organizational development. Students gain a broad understanding of current trends, leadership challenges, and opportunities to advance social justice in higher education.

Community Engagement Fellowship – The Master’s in Community Engagement (M.Ed.) prepares students to be nonprofit leaders, social change activists, and leaders in the national service learning movement. The curriculum focuses on diversity and social justice, community development, and organizational change. Students gain a broad understanding of civic engagement and the nonprofit sector, including trends, theoretical models, and best practices. This versatile degree prepares students for outreach and partnership work in schools, colleges, and community organizations.
