The Honors Program & Merrimack’s Academic Goals
The Honors Program is grounded in the College’s five academic goals:
Communication Skills – the ability to read, write, speak and listen effectively, and use computer technology and electronic media;
Critical Thinking Skills – the ability to analyze, investigate, integrate, synthesize and evaluate complex information effectively and the ability to use logical, qualitative and quantitative reasoning for problem solving;
Ethical Understanding, Reasoning and Responsibility – the ability to make decisions guided by moral and ethical frameworks and to understand the personal and social implications of choices and accept responsibility for oneself and one’s actions;
Cultural Understanding and Respect for Diversity – the ability to apply a global perspective and appreciate the diversity of human cultures, experiences as well as learning to work with and communicate effectively in a diverse environment;
Reflective Thinking Skills – the ability to learn from experience an cultivate and direct one’s own intellectual, creative, personal and spiritual growth.
