Merrimack College Launches New Study Abroad Center in Chengdu, China
Merrimack College is excited to announce it will be partnering with Fairleigh Dickinson University, Concordia University Chicago, Norwich University, and Sichuan University, will open a new study abroad center in Chengdu, China. The center will be managed by G-MEO a leader in study abroad programs across China.
The new Chengdu American Study Center will be located on the campus of the prestigious Sichuan University, a beautifully landscaped enclave in the middle of bustling Chengdu. Chengdu is a city of 14 million people located in Sichuan Province, world famous for its spicy cuisine and as the “home town” of China’s Giant Panda. Students will have an opportunity to visit the Chengdu Panda Breeding Center and get “up close and personal” with a real, live panda cub.
In order the accommodate the Chinese New Year celebrations, the Chengdu American Study Abroad Center will operate on a modified academic calendar, running from February 25 to May 29, 2013.
Courses will be offered in business, communication, science, humanities, social science, criminal justice, Chinese language and culture, and other fields. Sichuan University faculty will offer the Chinese language and culture courses. All courses will be taught in English.
Students will have an opportunity to apply for internships with corporations in the Chengdu industrial and high-tech zones, home to more than 160 Fortune 500 companies, which will enhance their studies and their resume. Social service opportunities with local NGOs will also be available.
Application deadline for the Spring 2014 semester has been extended to October 30th.
