Karen Howard

Karen L. Howard received her doctorate in theology at Boston College in 1997 with a concentration in systematics and Holocaust Studies.  Dr. Howard came to academia with over twenty years experience in religious education and pastoral ministry and has authored a text in intergenerational catechesis, Getting Back to Basics: A Parish Plan for Family Catechesis, as well as several articles on new approaches to catechesis.  She has taught Holocaust courses and how to read the Christian Scriptures in a post-Holocaust world at Merrimack College since 1997 and has written articles on the value of Holocaust education and advances in Jewish Christian dialogue.  Currently, she is beginning her fifth year of teaching theology and philosophy at Boston College, and is working on articles on understanding the mind of Paul in his Jewish context and Women’s Voices in the Holocaust.  Dr. Howard lives in Lakeville, MA with her husband, Bill, and is the mother of seven grown children.
