Class of 2008
Electrical Engineering Major
Peter Depaola graduated from Merrimack College in 2008 with a major in electrical engineering and a minor in computer engineering. He came to Merrimack after graduating St. Bernard High School in Uncasville, Connecticut. He chose Merrimack College because a friend recommended Merrimack and after he visited, he knew it was where he should be. He picked this major because he enjoys building things. He took physics in high school where he was exposed to electronics which he really enjoys. His favorite courses were Embedded Microcontrollers, Fields and Waves, Computer Architecture, and Communications Theory. In the summer of 2007, he interned for Enterasys in North Andover, MA. They build industrial switches, hubs, routers etc and he worked in the Test Engineering Department debugging circuit boards and assisting senior engineers. This job was much easier because of the computer engineering courses he had already taken at Merrimack. In addition to his studies, he also sang in the Merrimack Music Ministry, was IEEE Chapter President, and enjoys reading Sci-Fi. In addition, he was a Student Tutor for the EE Dept., a member of MORE – (Merrimack Outreach Experience – Ministry Retreat) and traveled to Italy for the Merrimack's Pellegrinaggio pilgrimage. Peter intends to go to graduate school with a focus in electromagnetism and to get a job in the same field.
