Birgid Hopkins has been the Director of Sports Medicine for 15 years. She teaches in the
program, serves as an academic advisor for Sports Medicine and Athletic Training majors
and the Sports Medicine Internship coordinator. She is a certified member of the Board of
Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC), an active member of the National Athletic Trainers
Association (NATA) and Massachusetts State licensed Athletic Trainer. Professor Hopkins
has been involved with the BOC since 1997 as an examiner and test site administer. In 2009,
she was selected to serve on the BOC Exam Development Committee. As a clinical faculty
member Hopkins believes the best gratification about her job is the dual appointment being able
to teach students in the program, as well as work with them clinically while honing their skills in
preparation for work in the health care industry.
