All graduate applications to Merrimack College are reviewed in a holistic way, taking into consideration many factors in a student’s personal and scholastic records.
The Graduate Admission Committee will review undergraduate GPA, course of study, and curriculum, in addition to relevant job or internship experience, personal or professional accomplishments or demonstrated leadership, letters of recommendation, and an applicant’s goals for the program as outlined in their personal statement.
Graduate Admission Requirements
Standardized test scores are not required to complete an application, though we encourage them from students who have taken standardized tests.
Merrimack College reserves the right to ask any applicant for additional supplemental requirements in consideration of their application, including but not limited to official standardized scores or an in-person interview.
Applicants to the graduate programs at Merrimack must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, and submit the required materials in order to be considered for admission.
Management: If your undergraduate degree is in a non-management-related field, some demonstration of math proficiency is preferred.
Engineering: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a Bachelor of Science in a science field or mathematics. NOTE: Students with non-engineering degrees (e.g., chemistry, physics, geology, mathematics or biology) will be considered on a case-by-case basis. They may be required to take additional courses, based upon guidance from the faculty advisor, to prepare them for their advanced studies in engineering.
Education: K-12 Teacher Education program: Official scores from the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) It is strongly recommended that applicants have passed at least the Communications and Literacy Skills (01) test.
Education: K-12 Teacher Education program: A copy of current teaching license(s), if applicable
A current teaching license is not required for admission into a licensure graduate program. However, if you do hold a current teaching license, we encourage you to include a copy with your application materials.
For International Applicants
All graduate international applicants for whom English is not his/her native language and did not complete a bachelor’s degree in the US must demonstrate English proficiency by submitting scores from one of the following tests:
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is designed to measure an applicant’s ability to communicate in English in a college or university setting. Merrimack College requires a minimum score of 80 on the internet-based test (no subset below 18) for all graduate applicants.
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed
