Commencement will arrive quickly, and this page is intended to provide you with information you will need as you make preparations to attend Merrimack College’s 2016 Graduate Commencement.  Please bookmark this page so that you may refer to it in the coming weeks.

Graduate Line-up

Graduates should arrive on campus with cap, gown and hood no later than 5:00 p.m. to line up for the commencement procession in the Hammel Basketball Court, Merrimack Athletics Complex.

 

Reception

A light reception follows the commencement ceremony at the Sakowich Campus Center.

 

Diplomas

Diplomas will be handed out at commencement.  If you do not plan to attend graduation, your diploma will be available in the Office of the Registrar after graduation.

Students who are participating in commencement but have not completed their coursework will receive their diploma following completion of their coursework and according to the Registrar’s distribution schedule.

 

Final Grade Report

You may view your grades on MyMack as soon as they are available.

 

Caps & Gowns

Caps and gowns will be ordered and distributed on Wednesday, April 27 in Murray Lounge, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Caps, gowns and hoods must be returned immediately after commencement (after the appropriate family photos); the tassel is yours to keep. Bins will be available for drop off in the Sakowich Campus Center.

If you wish to PURCHASE the cap, gown and hood, the cost is $25/cap & gown; $25/hood.  Cash or checks accepted made payable to University Cap and Gown. More instructions to follow.

If you cannot make it to Murray Lounge on April 27, unclaimed caps and gowns and tickets will be available for pick up in the Education department, Austin Hall, 3rd floor, Room 204 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

 

Ticket Information

Graduate admission tickets will be distributed along with cap, gown and hood on Wednesday, April 27 in Murray Lounge, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

All graduates must present a valid photo ID and sign for their tickets. Graduates may not pick up tickets for other students, and tickets will not be mailed. 

Seating is general admission; there are no assigned seats for guests.

 

 

Attendance Policy/Safety Regulations

Individuals seeking admittance to the Merrimack Athletics Complex will be required to present a commencement admission ticket.  No exceptions will be made to this policy. Graduates should distribute tickets to their guests before arriving on campus.

Merrimack College has implemented several policies designed to ensure the continued safety of our community. Guests will be permitted to bring small cameras, small purses or other small bags into the venue. Backpacks and other large bags and wrapped gifts will not be permitted into the arena. Bottled water will be available in the DiCroce Lobby of the Merrimack Athletics Complex and Dunkin Donuts, located in the complex will be open for business.Guests are urged to arrive early and to limit the items they bring with them. 

The college reserves the right to search any bag or parcel brought into the facility. We ask for your cooperation in making this occasion a memorable one, and request that you do not bring alcohol (including champagne), beach balls, air horns, balloons, or wrapped gifts, etc. to the ceremony. Inappropriate items will be confiscated at the door. 

Fire codes prohibit guests from standing in the aisles in the Merrimack Athletics Complex.  Family photographers are asked to stay behind stanchions and will not be permitted in the center aisle. Please remember to be considerate of those seated behind you while you are taking your photos. 

Guest admittance to the Merrimack Athletics Complex will begin at 5:00 p.m. All guests should be seated by 6:00 p.m. prior to the procession into the arena.

The commencement ceremony is expected to last until approximately 8:00 p.m.

 

Seating for People with Disabilities/Other Accommodations

Wheelchair plus one companion seating will be available in a reserved Handicap section of the arena. This will come out of your predetermined ticket total.

Professional Photographer

A professional photographer will take pictures of each student receiving his/her diploma.  All graduates will be mailed information regarding the graduation picture. Any questions should be directed to Hockmeyer/Essex Commencement Photos at (978) 388-9832.

Parking

Parking is limited. The Merrimack College Police Department will be on campus throughout the weekend to direct you and your guests to appropriate parking areas.

 

Trolley Shuttle Service

A trolley shuttle will be available to transport guests from all campus parking lots to the Merrimack Athletics Center. Trolleys are not wheelchair accessible.

 

Handicap Parking

Handicap parking is available in the Merrimack Athletics Complex parking lot for all vehicles with a state-issued handicap parking pass. Elderly and limited mobility guests may be dropped-off in the Merrimack Athletics Complex parking lot but vehicles without a state-issued parking pass must park in other lots on campus after drop-off. Additional requests may be directed to the Merrimack Police Department at 978-837-5152. Officers will be available to give directions.

 

Pets

College policy prohibits bringing pets on campus grounds and in buildings unless it is a certified service animal.

Weather Related Changes

For updates regarding change of plans due to weather on the day of commencement, students will receive a message via RAVE and social media or may call the Weather Emergency Information Line at 978-837-5700, or log onto www.merrimack.edu.

 

Faculty Information

Regalia - If you have ordered regalia, you may pick it up in the Provost’s Office beginning May 13.

Graduate Commencement Line Up for Faculty - Faculty and stage party will prepare with robing and line up in the Innovation Center at 5 p.m. Procession starts from this location at 5:45 p.m.
