Congratulations graduates, parents and families.  Commencement will arrive quickly, and this page is intended to provide you with information you will need as you make preparations to attend Merrimack College’s 65th Commencement.  Please bookmark this page so that you may refer to it in the coming weeks.

Graduate Line-up

Graduates should arrive on campus no later than 8:30 a.m. to line up for the commencement procession at the Sakowich Campus Center.

  

Commencement Reception

A light reception follows the commencement ceremony at the Sakowich Campus Center.

  

Diplomas

Diplomas have been ordered.  If you do not plan to attend graduation, your diploma will be available in the Office of the Registrar after graduation.

  

Final Grade Report

You may view your grades on MyMack as soon as they are available.       

  

Caps and Gowns

Caps & gowns will be distributed on Friday, May 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Hammel Basketball Court, Merrimack Athletic Complex.

  

Ticket Information

Undergraduate admission tickets will be distributed on Friday, May 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Hammel Basketball Court, Merrimack Athletic Complex.

Due to limited seating in the Volpe Arena each graduating student will receive five (5) commencement tickets (Note: This number has been increased).  All graduates must present a valid photo ID and sign for their tickets. Graduates may not pick up tickets for other students, and tickets will not be mailed. 

NOTE: Please make every effort to pick up your cap/gown/hood and tickets on this day. For those who cannot make it to campus on May 1, these items will be available for a later pick up in the Provost Office in Austin Hall.

  

Attendance Policy/Safety Regulations

Individuals seeking admittance to the Merrimack Athletics Complex will be required to present a Commencement Admission Ticket.  No exceptions will be made to this policy. Please distribute tickets to all attendees in your group before arriving on campus.

Merrimack College has implemented several policies designed to ensure the continued safety of our community. Guests will be permitted to bring small cameras, small purses or other small bags into the venue. Backpacks and other large bags will not be permitted into the arena. Guests are urged to arrive early and to limit the items they bring with them. The college reserves the right to search any bag or parcel brought into the facility.

We ask for your cooperation in making this occasion a memorable one, and request that you do not bring alcohol (including champagne), beach balls, air horns, balloons, etc. to the ceremony. Inappropriate items will be confiscated at the door. 

Fire codes prohibit guests from standing in the aisles in the Merrimack Athletics Complex.  Family photographers are asked to stay behind stanchions.  Please remember to be considerate of those seated behind you while you are taking your photos. 

  

Handicap Seating Area/Other Accommodations

Wheelchair plus one guest seating will be available in a reserved Handicap section of the arena. Please note: each degree candidate will receive a total of five (5) tickets that can be used for general admission or three (3) general admission and two (2) wheelchair section tickets - one for the wheelchair and one for a companion to assist him/her.

Professional Photographer

A professional photographer will take pictures of each student receiving his/her diploma.  You will be contacted with details. Questions, please contact the Office of Conference and Events 978-837-5389.

  

Parking

Parking is limited. Campus Police will be on campus throughout the weekend to direct guests to appropriate parking areas.

Due to an expected high volume of pedestrian traffic, Cullen Avenue (off Route 125) will be closed after 8:00 a.m. on Sunday.  All guests should enter campus through the Rte. 114 or the Elm Street entrances.

  

Trolley Shuttle Service

A shuttle will be available to transport guests from parking lots to the Merrimack Athletics Center. Trolleys are not wheelchair accessible.

  

Handicap Parking

Handicap parking is available in the Merrimack Athletics Complex parking lot for all vehicles with a state-issued handicap parking pass. Elderly and limited mobility guests may be dropped-off in the Merrimack Athletics Complex parking lot but vehicles without a state-issued parking pass must park in other lots on campus after drop-off. Additional requests may be directed to the Merrimack Police Department at 978-837-5152. Officers will be available to give directions.

  

Pets

College policy prohibits bringing pets on campus grounds and in buildings unless it is a certified service animal.

Honors Convocation

New to the Commencement Weekend this year is the addition of the Honors Convocation on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. (new time) in the Merrimack Athletics Complex.  This is in recognition of the Presidential Scholars of Merrimack College and Honors Program Graduates of 2015.  This event is by invitation only.

Participating graduates will line up at 11:30 a.m. in the Hammel Basketball Court to proceed into the Volpe Arena, Merrimack Athletics Complex. Graduates should wear their robe for this ceremony; neither hood nor cap is needed. A reception follows at the Sakowich Campus Center.

  

Legacy Students Reception

Legacy graduates and families are invited to a reception on Saturday, May 16th from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. in the Rogers Center for the Arts.  At the Legacy Reception each legacy graduate will receive a medallion to be worn at commencement. This event is by invitation only.

  

Baccalaureate Mass

Baccalaureate Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 16 at 4:00 p.m. in the Collegiate Church of Christ the Teacher.

Graduates will line up at 3:30 p.m. in front of Austin Hall.

Graduates should wear their robe and hood for this ceremony; cap is not worn.

A reception follows at the Sakowich Campus Center.

  

Senior Send-off Week

All seniors are invited to both on-campus and off-campus events during the week of May 11, 2015. Plan to celebrate your last days and nights at Merrimack with your friends and classmates. Questions can be directed to the Office of Student Involvement.

  

Weather Related Changes
