Michael Patrick McDonald, author, Speaking Engagement

Michael Patrick MacDonald, a leading Boston activist who has launched many antiviolence initiatives and who works for social change nationally, collaborating with survivor families and young people, will speak on Thursday, June 5 and Friday, June 6. Dan Butin, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Education & Social Policy at Merrimack College will introduce Michael Patrick MacDonald on Thursday, June 5th.

Mr. MacDonald won the American Book Award in 2000. His national best seller, All Souls, and his follow-up, Easter Rising: A Memoir of Roots and Rebellion, have been adopted by university curriculums across the country. He is currently the Author-in-Residence at Northeastern University.

Free and open to the public, these two events are sponsored by Merrimack College’s School of Education & Social Policy, Stevens Memorial Library, and the Lawrence Youth Team. The Lawrence Youth Team, established under Governor Patrick’s Safe and Successful Youth Initiative, seeks out, engages, and serves “Proven Risk” youth and their families and increases community awareness and sensitivities to their challenges.
