February 24, 2014 - Merrimack College has upgraded from a single laptop license to a BodyViz 3D classroom solution, providing a stereoscopic immersive experience for their users.  Now Merrimack students don 3D glasses and use an Xbox game controller to investigate human anatomy on a large projection screen, providing a collaborative 3D experience.  Scott Rodenburg, BodyViz Manager of Business Development says, “Merrimack initially purchased a single license and now a year later have upgraded to a 3D classroom.  The program is easily scalable to larger configurations.  It’s also versatile and will become more so in the coming months with new technology improvements.”  BodyViz is also pleased to announce new customers spanning multiple markets including higher education, medical, and legal. In higher education, Lafayette College and Virginia Union University will be using the software for instruction in anatomy and health sciences. Lafayette College, founded in 1826, offers undergraduate degrees in 51 fields to approximately 2,400 students and has a $750 million endowment placing it in the top 8% of all U.S. institutions in endowment per student. Virginia Union was founded in 1865 to give newly emancipated slaves an opportunity for education and advancement.  For 1,700 students, VUU offers a broad range of undergraduate and graduate programs from liberal arts to science and technology.  Watson & Carroll, PC LLO, a law firm specializing in personal injury and medical malpractice in Omaha has purchased the software for use in trial, mediations, and settlement conferences.  Dr. Vernon Williams of Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic, a world-leading sports injury clinic on the west coast will be using the software for case review and patient education.  BodyViz CEO Curt Carlson notes, “Our customers realize the value of the BodyViz technology and the ease to which the software takes any MRI or CT scan and turns them into 3D… So, it’s no surprise BodyViz is being used for so many different purposes and in so many different settings.”  Watch for features on these installations in future press releases.
