Sociology Major Named Presidential Scholar & Receives Hansen Award

Senior sociology major Rachel Sullivan has been named a 2014 Merrimack College Presidential Scholar. She is also this year’s recipient of the Yvonne Burgess Hansen Award.
Senior sociology major Rachel Sullivan has been named a 2014 Merrimack College Presidential Scholar. The Presidential Scholar status is given to seniors who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50. This year’s scholars will be celebrated at a ceremony and reception on Tuesday, April 29, beginning at 4:00 in the Rogers Center. 
 
Rachel is also this year’s recipient of the Yvonne Burgess Hansen Award, which has been given annually since 2011 to the senior Sociology major with the highest cumulative GPA. The award carries a monetary prize and is given at the department’s annual Alpha Kappa Delta induction ceremony. A plaque listing all of the Hansen Award winners resides in the Sociology Department.
