First Year Engineering Students Hoop It Up
In a Library Instruction Workshop with entering engineering majors, Wong had the students experiment with different types of hoops. She explained that she could never get the hula hoop to work as a child because she was using the wrong size hoop, but she learned to hoop as an adult when she discovered a bigger hoop. She said, “library tools are a lot like the bigger hoop, they help students to complete the tasks they need to accomplish. Using the right size hoop, or the best library database, just makes sense.”
