Homecoming weekend began Friday October 21, 2011 at 6:30pm with a spectacular fireworks display before the Merrimack Hockey team defeated Northeastern University 4-1.
The weekend continued Saturday morning with the 2nd Annual Homecoming 5K followed by two special dedications: The Crowe Family Commons Dedication and The Bert Hamel Court Dedication. The Crowe Family Commons was dedicated to Trustee Michael Crowe and his family in honor of their generous donation to the recent library renovations and the basketball court was dedicated to long-time Merrimack Men’s Basketball Coach, Bert Hammel.
Saturday continued with the Homecoming Cookout in preparation for the football game where the Warriors defeated the Stonehill Skyhawks 43-30. Following the football game, students, families, alumni and more gathered in the Merrimack Club for the Open House to enjoy the new renovated space!
Saturday evening everyone geared up outside the Volpe Center with street entertainment, music, fire pits, cash bar and concessions to support the Merrimack Hockey team as they took the ice again to defeat the UCONN Huskies 5-0.
The night concluded with Augie’s Nightcap 2011 and Merrimack’s Got Talent which took place in the newly opened Augie’s Pub where the pub was will filled to support the wide array of talent and Merimack’s student, staff, faculty and alumni community.
Melissa Garabedian ‘12, Dr. Jane Parent and Dr. Pat Sendall shared a moment together to catch up while enjoying Homecoming festivities.
More than 4,500 alumni, students, staff, families, and friends returned to the Merrimack College campus to attend this year’s highly-anticipated Homecoming: A Family Weekend, taking place November 2 – 3.
