Career Exploration

The O’Brien Center for Career Development encourages Merrimack students to use, an electronic platform designed to assist students with their personal and professional development through the use of assessments and associated resources.

To take the career assessments, create an account and use your Merrimack email as your ID.  Students will be asked for a license code and you will enter the following code: Y6GG2M7E. Once registration is complete, you will have unlimited access to the career assessments and resources on this platform.

After taking some of the career assessments we strongly suggest that you reach out to your career advisor to set up an appointment to review the results.

O*Net Interest Profiler

O*NET Online is a tool designed to assist in your career exploration and provides detailed information which allows you to analyze occupations and industries of interest.  The O*NET database contains in-depth information on hundreds occupations using interactive applications for exploring careers and provides vital information on  skills, abilities, education required, wages, and employment trends for each occupation. You may research careers by title, clusters, industries or job families. 

You may use O*NET Online to help you:

  • Choose or change associated majors based on occupational research you conduct.
  • Verify your preferences or early choice of a career field.

Going Global offers international career information on topics such as job search sources, work permit/visa regulations, resume writing guidelines, employment trends, salary ranges, networking groups, cultural/interviewing advice… and much more!
