Tia Roy joined The O’Brien Center for Student Success in September 2011 as a Career Peer Advisor. Tia is also the Program Coordinator and a peer mentor for Generation Merr1mack, a program supporting first generation college students with their transition into and through college. This new program was founded in fall 2012, and is housed in the O’Brien Center for Student Success. As a Career Peer Advisor, Tia is responsible for constant contact with students in the office, navigation of our job database system, coordinating Generation Merr1mack peer mentors, research and programming. 

Tia is currently a junior at Merrimack College majoring in Psychology with a minor in Communications. Tia is passionate about first generation college students, commuter students, vocational technical education, and the population of adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Before working for the O’Brien Center for Student Success, Tia was a Developmental Specialist for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities at Opportunity Works in Newburyport, MA. Here, Tia gained great knowledge and experience working with this population while utilizing her Certified Nursing Assistant license in the state of Massachusetts.
