Athletic Training Master’s Degree Made Him a Prime Candidate for the Job Search
Noah Collier, an alumnus of Merrimack’s M.S. in Athletic Training (MSAT) program, currently works as an Athletic Trainer at The Noble & Greenough School in Dedham, Massachusetts. Noah began his studies at UMass Amherst, where he got his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. The athletic training master’s program at Merrimack put him ahead of others when he graduated. He explained, “Getting a master’s put me in a position where I had the most up-to-date knowledge of sports medicine when entering the field. My master’s degree has taught me different treatment, evaluation and care techniques that athletic trainers who have been working for a long time are not privy to. I was getting the most efficacious information right before starting my career.”
“Merrimack was ahead of other MSAT programs, in my opinion, because they had great facilities with super personable faculty and a surplus of clinical affiliations. I knew that by going to Merrimack, I would be able to find the best fit for my practice through their extensive list of clinical sites.”
Noah credits much of his success as an athletic trainer to the Merrimack program. He emphasizes the accompanying education positions him as a strong candidate, considering the ever-evolving nature of medical techniques. Noah soon aspires to lead the sports medicine department at a preparatory school in New England. For prospective students considering a health sciences graduate program, Noah has some advice:
“Take it seriously, as it supplies critical knowledge for the real world. Oftentimes, undergraduate classes are overlooked as they lack real-world applications, but everything I learned in my master’s program has helped me become a more complete healthcare provider in the real world.”
