Master of Public Administration Sets Up Merrimack Grad For Success
An alum of Merrimack’s Master of Public Administration program, Taylor Galusha is currently an Assistant to the Town Manager in the Town of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. She is a proud Double Warrior, having also earned her bachelor’s degree at Merrimack in English and Political Science in 2020.
While completing her master’s, she received a graduate fellowship with Middleton Massachusetts in the Town Administrator’s Office. That opportunity set her up for success. Taylor says that “The fellowship program was a huge attribute to why I continued my education at Merrimack. My coursework aligned really well with my work during my fellowship. I was learning skills and then directly applying them to the real world. The fellowship I completed relates so much to the job I have today.”
“I can’t emphasize enough how much the staff are involved in the graduate student experience at Merrimack. All the professors I had throughout my graduate program always went the extra mile. Every professor genuinely wanted all of us to succeed. I felt like I had an army behind me that supported me throughout my experience.”
Taylor explained that the lessons taught in class and the practical experience were a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that changed the trajectory of her career.
For prospective students considering the fellowship program, Taylor has some advice:
“My best advice for someone looking to do the fellowship program is to be open-minded about your placement because either you’ll learn to love your placement or you will learn it might not be for you, which will ultimately help you find your path.”
