Inaugural Class of Nursing Student Achieves Dream Job

“I thoroughly enjoyed my experience in the nursing program at Merrimack. I think it prepared me well for my future career path by providing guidance and offering unique clinical experiences. During my time here, I also feel like I formed a bond with each of my professors/faculty members I encountered throughout the program. Having a personable connection with the faculty is so important because it allows for a sense of community by being able to say a quick hello or stop to have a casual conversation/check-in in passing. It also makes you feel comfortable seeking help or guidance while in the thick of nursing school and asking for recommendations as you later seek a job.”

“The Nursing Club at Merrimack was a great way to meet new people of each different class in the nursing program, experience and meet speakers that the club brought in, and participate in community events.”

“I held my senior practicum placement at Newton-Wellesley Hospital on a Medical-Surgical/Cardiac ICU Stepdown Unit. I found this experience to be highly valuable as I got to see lots of different surgical patients and also experience the complex and critical patients that were ICU step-downs. Experiencing this and “acting” like a nurse and not just the nursing student, was unique and really allowed me to take on the role as a nurse to practice skills and independence, apply knowledge, and spark my interest in the surgical area of nursing.”
