As a mechanical engineering major at Merrimack College, you will gain a deeper knowledge of engineering, chemistry, physics, computer science, and mathematics.

What You’ll Learn

Equipped with specialized skills, tools and techniques, you’ll be well-prepared for a career in a range of industries including aerospace, automotive, bioengineering and communications. Bonus? The engineering department is home to two 3-D printers you can use to rapidly prototype models, gears and more.

In the mechanical engineering program at Merrimack College, you will:

  • Learn how to design a system, component or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability and sustainability.
  • Discover how to identify, formulate and solve complex mechanical engineering problems.
  • Explore critical mechanical engineering concepts. including machine design, materials science, and heat and mass transfer.
  • Gain a firm mathematics foundation by studying calculus, statistics and differential equations.
  • Improve your critical-thinking, logical-reasoning, and problem-solving skills.

Hands-On Learning

You’ll have the opportunity to take part in internships and co-ops. It’s your chance to get real-world experience at industry leaders like Raytheon, Phillips Medical and the MIT Lincoln Laboratory.
