Exercise science and athletic training are related fields that focus on how the human body moves, functions, and adapts. At Merrimack College, our faculty are passionate about helping students learn and develop in preparation for their careers through a variety of gradate and undergraduate programs.

  • New concentrations allow for students to tailor their education from first year throughout the curriculum.
  • Directed study and research opportunities allow students to work alongside faculty members as research assistants or take advantage of content knowledge in the development of student’s own research projects.
  • Performance testing equipment on par with professional sports teams.
  • 90% admission rate (past five years) for DPT/OT graduate study.

  • Program development and transition over past three years include implementing athletic training related content in pre-professional phase of program (first three years)
  • Strength and diversity of faculty including variety of clinical backgrounds with a minimum of 10 years of athletic training clinical experience.
  • We have outstanding and diverse clinical affiliation sites and preceptors, and do not utilize preceptors with less than five years of clinical experience.

  • Ten-week full immersive experience at the start of the second year utilizing pre-season allows students to participate in clinical rotations across the country.
  • State-of-the-art modalities and equipment that are utilized in current healthcare, keeping up with current trends in practice 
  • Centralized location for students commuting to Merrimack College for classes and performing at clinical sites in afternoons.
  • Summer start allows for knowledge and skill acquisition prior to start of first off-campus clinical rotation.
