Professor Sawyer transitioned from a business career into teaching all levels of accounting – from introductory to graduate level via both in-person and online. Big 4 Trained CPA with over 15 years of experience executing large-scale financial investigations and monitorships focusing on staff and resource development. Prior to joining academia, was an Associate Managing Director with Kroll’s Investigations and Disputes Group in London and New York. Provided expertise in Financial Investigations involving fraud, corruption, and regulatory issues globally. Advised clients on performing risk assessments and how to best implement controls to mitigate these risks. Experience advising audit committee members and legal counsel, conducting investigative interviews, drafting expert reports, and deposition preparation. Prior to providing forensic and litigation consulting services, was an auditor at a Big Four accounting firm for approximately five years with a focus on clients specializing in consumer finance transactions.
Lilia Hessasta ’25, who will serve as assistant stage manager for Merrimack College's upcoming production of “The Drowsy Chaperone," was awarded Outstanding Stage Management Intern at this year’s Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival.
