Research Interests

My primary biological research interest is in the study of mitochondria, especially mitochondrial bioenergetics. I am particularly interested in investigating differences in mitochondrial structure and function between normal epithelial and carcinoma cells, and identifying ways to exploit these differences as targets for cancer chemotherapy. I am also interested in understanding the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in the etiology and pathogenesis of several diseases, including cancer and bipolar disorder.
