Kate Baron joined the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs at Merrimack College in June of 2023. She provides both pre and post-award grant management for non-governmental funding, primarily from private and corporate foundations across all disciplines including research, civic and community engagement and education. Kate has a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Rutgers University and a Master’s of Science in Public Policy with a minor in Substance Use and Misuse from Drexel University. Her thesis focused on people-centered harm reduction services that address the effects of the opioid epidemic. She has twelve years of grant writing experience in different realms including fundraising for medically tailed meals, nutrition education, pediatric HIV/AIDS health and wellness services and other infectious diseases. In her seven years in higher education, Kate supported many schools and colleges at both Drexel University and Boston University for medicine, nursing, public health, biomedical engineering, hematology and oncology.
Elsie Bennett ’26, a graphic design major, serves as vice president of the Active Minds student group, an Office of Student Involvement student leader and resident advisor.
