Family and music have always been core parts of who I am. So for my project, I wanted to somehow combine both of them; which is why I chose to do a soundscape project, as I found this was the best way to incorporate the core parts of who I am as a person—a composer and a writer.
Life for me wasn’t always easy. I’ve had lots of hardships that I had to go through. This project is meant to be a way of explaining the transition I made from happiness to difficulty, to acceptance of myself during my time in high school. The 6 soundscapes I chose for my Soundscape project (entitled Memories) are produced and written by myself—along with some help from my friends. The project is split into three different stories. The three stories are called Bliss, Death, and Love. Each story is a representation of one specific memory that helped me through my move from happiness, to difficulty, and finally to acceptance. As I’ve taken music classes during my time in college, my passion for music evolved into music production; my plans for a career outside of school is to be a sound engineer and I wanted to use this project as a way to sharpen my production skills.
